The Tennis Industry Association (TIA) will hold its inaugural “TIA Future of Tennis Summit” March 11-12 in Indian Wells, Calif., during the BNP Paribas Open men’s and women’s pro tournament.
The summit’s theme will be “Tennis 2020—Designing the Future Landscape of Tennis” and will include discussions and speakers that take a top-level view of the industry, define goals and benchmarks, and help to chart a path that will ensure a profitable tennis marketplace and an image of tennis attractive to both recreational tennis players and tennis fans.
“At the Future of Tennis Summit, we’re bringing together leaders and executives both inside and outside of the tennis industry to help us define pathways and strategic efforts to reaching our long-term goals, which include impacting significant growth at both the trade and consumer levels,” says TIA President Greg Mason. “As an industry, one of our main objectives is to increase the number of frequent players in the U.S. from its current 5.4 million to 10 million by the year 2020, which will add nearly $4 billion to the ‘tennis economy.’”
“We’re looking forward to welcoming the industry to Indian Wells and the BNP Paribas Open,” says Steve Simon, BNP Paribas Open tournament director. “We’re happy to be included in the Future of Tennis Summit and to help shape key goals for the industry.”
The Future of Tennis Summit will be at the Renaissance Esmeralda Indian Wells Resort & Spa. Additional details, including updates on room rates and registration, will be made available at TennisIndustry.org in the coming weeks.
